Dr. Edwin Lee DAVIS Obituary
DAVIS, Dr. Edwin Lee Passed on May 10, 2018 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, OH. He was born in Ridgeville OH on April 26, 1924, and was 94 years old. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School in 1942, and then received a degree from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1951. Edwin received two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star in WWII. He served with the 4th Marine Division, Company F. He was a Field Music Rank, and served on Saipan, Tinian Roi-Namur, and Iwo Jima. Eddie was also a Second Lt. in the Veterinary Corps. He started practice in Oxford, OH before going to Waynesville, OH for five years, doing primarily large animal medicine. In 1957, he went to Springfield, OH, where he practiced small animal medicine at Northside Veterinary Clinic for 21 years. His next journey was to serve with the Dept. of Agriculture. In this capacity, he was in Georgia, Maryland, Florida, and Alabama. For six years he was with the Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Davis was on the Board of Trustees at OSU for several years (Veterinary), Past President of the Clark County Humane Society. He was in Kiwanis in both Springfield and Lebanon, OH for 58 years, a lifetime member of The American Legion, a Mason and a Kentucky Colonel. His parents, Vance and Esther Graham Davis preceded him. Two brothers, Ervin and Ernest, and a sister Virginia pre-deceased him. Daughter, Cynthia Lynn Davis passed at age 53 in 2009. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Lane Davis, son Jeffrey Lee and wife Susan Kennedy Davis of Granville, OH and Amber Brooke Davis of Beavercreek, OH. Brother Earl Davis also survives. Services will be held at Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home in Lebanon, OH, on Monday, May 21st, 2018. Visitation 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. with a service immediately following at 11 A.M. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to any charity, or the Warren County Humane Society, OHIO Nami, or .
