Raymond PEREZ Obituary
PEREZ, Raymond A. 93, of Bradenton, formerly of Massillon, OH passed away at home on September 29, 2018 with his family at his side. Ray was born on January 23, 1925 in Massillon, OH to Erasmo & Balbina Perez. He graduated from Massillon City Schools in 1943, with a BS in Education from Kent State University in 1950 and an ME in Education in 1953. He continued his graduate work at Miami University of Ohio. Ray began his career in education as a teacher in Franklin, OH for eight years. He then served as the superintendent of Springboro, OH schools for 25 years. Ray served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II in the Pacific Theater of Operations, seeing duty in the Philippines and New Guinea. He was a life member of the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, a member of the American Association of School Administrators, Sarasota Masonic Lodge #147, a 32nd Degree Mason in the Tampa Scottish Rite, a member of the Sarasota Sahib Shrine, past President of the Gulf Shrine Club, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of American Legion Post #24, a member of the Lions Club for over 50 years, having been awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, and a member of Palma Sola Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, FL. Ray also served on the Bradenton Fire Fighters Pension & Retirement Board. Preceded in death by his sisters Mary Conde and Josephine Makrides and a sister-in-law JoAgnes Carter, Ray is survived by Cindy, his wife of 62 years, brother Michael of Massillon, OH, brother-in-law Basil (Joann) Jones of Bowling Green, KY, and numerous precious nieces and nephews. Ray's life will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 11th at the Freedom Village Landings Auditorium, 6406 21st Avenue West, Bradenton, with a reception in his memory following the service. He will be laid to rest in the family plot in Somerset, KY. Ray's family requests memorial contributions be made in his memory to , 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL, 33607.
