William BEHRINGER Obituary
BEHRINGER, S.M., Fr. William (1931-2018) On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, Fr. Bill Behringer, SM, passed away at the Marianist Residence. He was born in Dayton, OH on Dec. 28, 1931. Fr. Bill had been a member of the St. Mary's University family since his assignment to the Casa Maria Community in 2010. Until this year he was the chaplain for the brothers and priests in the medical wing of the Residence and the Director of the Marianist Community at Casa Maria. Fr. Bill was a Marianist for 69 years. He was looking forward to next May when he would have celebrated his 70th anniversary in the Society. In those almost 70 years he served God's people in the United States and Kenya. He was a high school teacher and chaplain, a pastor, a Novice Master, in both countries, Master of Scholastics, Provincial of the Cincinnati Province of the Society of Mary and health center chaplain. Finally he was the Director of the Formation Community at Casa Maria for four years. Over and over again he was chosen by his brothers to take on positions of high trust and responsibility. He was a man of immense dignity who had a wonderful sense of humor. He lived by a strong personal code of faith and obedience to his vocation and, at the same time, he had the great heart of a true pastor, warm and welcoming. Visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Friday, December 7, 2018 at Queen of Apostles Chapel, Mt. St. John, Dayton. Mass of Christian burial follows at 5:00 P.M. Internment 9:00 A.M. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Mt. St. John, Dayton.
