Winford Burns (Bill) BURTON Obituary
BURTON, Winford Burns "Bill" Age 95, formerly of Dayton, OH passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 5, 2018. He was preceded by his first wife, Ann Callahan Burton, and his second wife Jean Kunk, his sister Gladys Williams and brothers, Jack and Joe. He is survived by his son, Jackie and daughter-in-law Jo Ellen, two grandchildren, Liz Burton Shown and Benjamin Burton, and two great-grandchildren, Caelyn and Phoebe Shown. Bill was born in Lykins, KY to Tone and Marie Collinsworth Burton. He served for five years in the Army during WWII, enlisting at age 17. He participated in the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Bill worked in interstate trucking and landscaping before finding his vocation as a toolmaker. He leaves a legacy of quiet fortitude, old world craftsmanship and caring for people over possessions. A small gathering of family and friends will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Tipp City, OH at 3:00 on Sept. 28th. We love you dad.
