, age 52 of Tampa died Friday, March 25, 2016. Sherri came to Tampa 35 years ago from her native Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a graduate of USF and was a gifted reporter and writer. She was a passionate advocate for children during her reporting career with the Tampa Tampa Tribune - a talent she brought to "Step up for Students" where she helped secure private school scholarships for disadvantaged children.
More than anything, Sherri dearly loved her young children, Zane and Annabelle and her husband Steve. Sherri also loved cooking, exploring new places and taking long family road trips all over the country.
Along with her children and husband of 15 years, suvivors include brother and sister-in-law, Jeremy & Sylvia Smith of Durham, NC, sisters and brothers-in-law, Terri & Mark Currier of Tampa and Karyn & Tom Rupp of Waseon, OH, and Laura Newborn and Marvin Willis of Seattle.
She will be missed more than words can say.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2:30 PM at Congregation Schaarai Zedek, 3303 W. Swann Avenue, Tampa. Internment will follow at Schaarai Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will be appreciated to establish a living memorial in the form of an educational fund for Sherri's children.
