MUNTNER, Sue 53, of St. Petersburg died on June 17, 2014 after a short but intense battle with lung cancer. Sue is survived by her adoring parents, sister, and sister-in-law: Elaine and Sam Muntner, Marla Muntner, and Laurie Collins, all of Virginia; her girlfriend Jana Moalli, of St. Petersburg; and many caring friends and relatives across the country. Sue was a graduate and employee of Eckerd College. In addition to her wry sense of humor, Sue will be remembered for her many admirable traits - including her creativity and passion for culinary pursuits, her love of music, and her integral place in the local craft beer community. An enthusiastic observer of the natural world, Sue had a special passion for protecting birds, and she spent many seasons as a volunteer tracking and rescuing least terns near her home in St. Petersburg. Sue's family asks that you pause to remember Sue when you see shore birds and other natural beauty. And, for those who want to do something more tangible, please consider making a donation in Sue's memory to the Suncoast Hospice (www.thehospice.org/Donate) where Sue and her family received excellent care and guidance during Sue's final days.

Dearest Elaine, Sam, and little Marla,
How sorry I was to read about Sue in the newspaper. She and I had some wonderful "adventures" back in high school! When I think back on all the times we spent together, I smile, as I hope you can too. Attending CHS's football games, making it through Mr. Parker's Bio class,as well as attending my church youth group together, are just a few fabulous memories that come to my mind when thinking of Sue. My favorite memory is when Sue and I were concocting our next "adventure", which would take place at any hour of the day or night, she wore her smiling-fun-loving, front-space-toothy smile when we finally figured it out!! That smile of hers ALWAYS made me laugh, even as I recall it now!
Please know that I am praying for God's Peace to touch each of your hearts. And, please smile and be happy for all of the zany "adventures" Sue shared with me.

Sue was a wonderful woman with a great sense of humor. We had some memorable times in old Dunedin. I had not seen her in many years but always thought of her as a good friend. May you rest in peace and may god bless your family.

Sue was special. A real genuine person. She was fun to be with, easy to talk to and enjoyed all life's simple pleasures. I vacationed with her and Jana at the 30A music fest and am so glad I have the memory of our time together and seeing her really enjoying every day to the max. A lesson we can all learn from. She really appreciated others and the beauty in every day. My deepest sympathy to her family. And to my sister Jana...peace and prayers....

Dear Elaine and Sam,
I was so sorry to learn that Sue has passed away. I have happy memories of all of you from our years in Del Oro Groves and many happy memories with Sue when we were junior high and high school kids. I always liked and enjoyed Sue; she was a well loved part of our neighborhood teen and school groups. I am sad that Sue has passed so young. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Lynne Borsuk

I had the honor of graduating with Sue at Eckerd College. I can say she was one of the most kind, caring, and funny people I have met. She always could make my day better with a joke. Although I only knew her for a short period of time, I will miss her dearly.

I will keep fond memories of our years of school together. Passing funny notes in ninth grade laughing. Bumping into each other again in the 90's to continue as if never losing time; you saved the note and passed it back..laughing. I will keep it close.

My heart is saddened by the loss of a colleague and friend. Her smile, her wit, her caring for nature's smallest creatures will be missed. But the shadow of her smile will remain in our hearts.
