Anthony BELLUCCIA Obituary

BELLUCCIA, Anthony M. joined our Lord on February 23, 2023 at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife, Carmela LoScalzo Belluccia of 62 years; sons, Alfonso (Barbara), Angelo (Catherine) and Joseph (Renée); as well as grandchildren, Laura (Marvin), Anthony (Briana), Elise, Manuel (Madison), Natalie, Vincent, Nicholas, Guneet, and Jaya; godchildren, Jonah, Paul, and Lisa. He will be remembered by his in-laws Maria Piazza, Vincent LoScalzo and many family members in the U.S. and Italy. Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso Belluccia and Rosalia Ligammari; brothers, Ciro, Gioacchino, and Giuseppe. A native of Alessandria della Rocca, Sicily, Italy, Anthony immigrated to Tampa in January 1960, with support from his uncle and aunt, John and Paulina Belluccia. While in Tampa, Anthony met the love of his life, Carmela who is also a native of Alessandria della Rocca. The two were married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on April 24, 1960. Anthony came to Tampa as a skilled carpenter and later started a successful business as a general contractor, remodeling and building many homes in the Tampa area. Through his hard work, Anthony was able to send his sons to college and taught them strength and compassion. His unconditional love will remain in the memories of his children, their spouses, and grandchildren. He expressed love by working on his children's homes, making furniture or doll houses, gardening with grandchildren, and making time to attend grandchildren events. A loving husband, father, Nonno, and friend, Anthony can be remembered as strong in heart, mind, and body, as a generous and proud grandfather, as well as a role model for success. Pallbearers include Anthony J. Belluccia, Manuel Belluccia, Alfonso J. Belluccia, Joe LaPerna, Steve LaPerna, Joe Piazza, Angelo Piazza, Michael Piazza, Angelo LoScalzo, and John LoScalzo. We thank Maria Davila who helped care for Anthony during his last few months. Family and friends will be received at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3012 W. Cherry St., Tampa, FL 33607, on Saturday March 4, 2023, from 9-10 am followed by a Catholic mass at 10 am. Burial will follow at L'Unione Italiana Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Anthony's memory, to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sons of Italy Lodge #1251, or the Italian Club Cemetery Perpetual Care Program.
