Obituary

JoAnn J. Sisson, 67, of Milton, Florida, passed away, Monday, May 20, 2019.

JoAnn graduated from Fernandina Hight School in 1969. JoAnn started her career at the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in Washington DC where she continued her career for multiple years as a defense contractor. She was recognized as the First Woman in Defense. She was also named Virginia's Outstanding Woman of the Year. She then began a 30+ year career as a residential real estate broker, until retiring from ERA Bill Wallace Realty in 2011. She continued her love of serving her community by serving on the Santa Rosa Council of Navy League Board as President and board member, National Navy League Board member, member of Milton Rotary Club, where she received the Paul Harris Fellow Award, Past President and Chairman of the Santa Rosa County Chamber Ambassadors, Leadership Santa Rosa Alumni, Leadership Santa Rosa Board Member, Santa Rosa County Chamber Board of Directors, Black Water Pyrates member. Joann was also awarded the West Florida Unsung Hero of the Year Award by West Florida Hospital, Santa Rosa County Chamber Volunteer of the Year, Santa Rosa County Chamber President's Award and Santa Rosa County Scratch Ankle Queen.

JoAnn is survived by her husband of 33 years, Thomas W. Sisson of Milton, Florida; a daughter, Heather (Timothy) O'Toole of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter, Holly (Charles) Datwyler of Katy, Texas; a son Chad (Sara) Sisson of Oakton, Virginia; a son, Casey (Courtney) Sisson of Herndon, Virginia; granddaughter, Sarah Datwyler of Katy, Texas; and grandson, Ryan Datwyler of Katy, Texas.

Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2019, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Burial will follow services in Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing.

The family wishes to thank the entire medical team at West Florida Hospital for all their professional care and extreme kindness. They would also like to thank the staff at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. A special thank you to Dr. La Thi of Santa Rosa for her professional and personal care.

The family would like to acknowledge that JoAnn was an organ donor recipient and she was passionate about the importance of becoming an organ donor.
