Obituary

Jocile "Jody" Castleberry Perry entered her heavenly home on Saturday, July 27, 2019.

She was born March 22, 1931, in Greenbrier, Arkansas. She earned a Business Degree and Library Science Degree from State College of Arkansas (Arkansas State Teachers College); and received her Master's Degree in Administration & Supervision from the University of West Florida in 1975.

She was employed by the Santa Rosa School System. Her duties were school librarian, media specialist, and Truant Officer.

At the time of her retirement in 1993, she was the librarian at Pace Middle School, where she was titled "The Bear Bryant" of librarians.

After her retirement, she enjoyed several traveling trips. She assisted her daughter, Cindy Pugh, with America's Cover Miss Beauty Pageants. She also served as President of the Pilot Club.

Ms. Jody was an active member in First Baptist Church of Milton and First United Methodist Church of Milton.

Ms. Jody is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lorene Castleberry; a brother, James T. Castleberry; and the late Louis E. (Bill) Perry.

She is survived by her children, Vickie (Ken) Barnes, Ronald Perry, and Cindy (Tommy) Pugh, all of Milton; grandchildren, Kenny (Elizabeth) Barnes of Milton, Korry (Ashley) Barnes of Annapolis, Maryland, Klayton (Taylor) Barnes of Norfolk, Virginia, Kaleb (Lindsay) Barnes of Pensacola, Florida, John Perry of Milton, and Jacob Perry of Pensacola; and great-grandchildren, Skye, Alexis, Paisley, Liam and Grayson Barnes.

A Celebration of Life Service, for Mrs. Perry, was held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at First United Methodist Church of Milton with Pastor Steve Warren and Ken Barnes officiating.

Visitation was held 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.

Lewis Funeral Home of Milton has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family wished to thank the Staff of Sandy Ridge Health & Rehabilitation and Santa Rosa Medical Center for the love and care shown to our mother and grandmother during her illness.

Donations may be made in Jody's name to the Parkinson's Foundation or Gideons International.
