Anthony Lorenzo Obituary

Anthony R. Lorenzo
June 18, 1926 - August 27, 2018
Anthony R. Lorenzo, fondly known as "Tony", passed away peacefully into eternal rest in the early hours of Monday, August 27, 2018, at Stamford Hospital after visiting with his family Sunday afternoon. He was 92, and born in Jersey City, New Jersey on June 18, 1926 to Angelo and Jean (Conticelli) Lorenzo. Tony recently celebrated his 65th wedding anniversary to the love of his life, Barbara (Gross) Lorenzo. Upon graduation from Dickinson High School in Jersey City, Tony served in the Army at the end of World War II, and then attended New York University through the G.I. Bill. He graduated from New York University (B.S. cum laude) in 1950 and became a CPA in Stamford. Shortly thereafter, he pursued a law career by attending New York University School of Law at night and earning a J.D. degree in 1960, and an LL.M degree in Taxation in 1964. He then expanded his own CPA practice to include tax law as an Attorney-CPA, and incorporating the areas of estate planning and administration, corporate, partnership, and business law. In 1978, he merged his successful practice with the law firm of Wofsey, Rosen, Kweskin & Kuriansky. During this time, Tony served professionally in many capacities. He was past president of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, and served on the national board of the American Association of Attorney-CPAs. He was also a president and trustee of the Educational Trust Fund of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, and was a former editor of the "Tax Roundtable" column in The Connecticut CPA. Locally, he was a founding member of the Roxbury Swim & Tennis Club serving as board member and Treasurer, and fulfilling an identical role with the Roxbury Community Association.Tony was a lover of life, people, fine dining, tennis, and Frank Sinatra. He shared all of this with his loving family and many friends, and will be remembered for his generous spirit. He is survived by his very diligent and caring wife, Barbara. Also surviving, are his son, Alan and his wife Virginia (Conti) and grandson, Andrew, all from Stamford, and his daughter, Linda, who resides in New York City, and visited him weekly. He is also survived by a sister, Marilyn Racioppi, and her husband, Frank, and a nephew, Michael Racioppi, and niece, Dianne Migliorino, and their families. A service will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home at 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, Connecticut, 06905, on Wednesday, September 5th, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Long Ridge Union Cemetery, 154 Erskine Road, Stamford, Connecticut 06903. To the family,
Sincere condolences on your loss. Tony was a customer and friend of mine for many years. I enjoyed conversations with him during his haircuts, stemming from stories of family vacations in Can Cun, to his favorite restaurant IL Falco. He adored his family and was so proud of his grandson.
I have so many fond memories of Tony.
May he Rest In Peace and his memory be eternal.

I had the great pleasure of working with Tony at Wofsey, Rosen, Kweskin & Kuriansky. Tony was always kind, generous, caring, a good and decent man, and highly professional. Each day after lunch he would stop by each secretary's desk to offer a piece of chocolate, and I always found this endearing, and so typical of Tony's spirit. Ever the gentleman, Tony was grateful of work done for him. He noticed the ones who went above and beyond their daily tasks, and he remembered those who moved on. Tony, may you rest in eternal peace in the arms of Our Lord. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, generosity, support, and all of those pieces of chocolate. I will miss you. I extend my deepest condolences and prayers to Tony's family for your comfort, strength and healing as you grieve the loss of this wonderful man. God Bless each of you.
