Woodtke, Frank
Frank W. Woodtke, 87, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 7th, 2012 at the Stamford Hospital. A lifelong resident of Stamford, born on June 9th, 1925 to the late Paul and Gertrude Wasserlein Woodtke.
A graduate of Bridgeport Engineering Institute, J.N. Wright Technical School, and Yale & Towne Manufacturing Apprentice School. Frank enlisted in the Naval Armed Guard, a division of the Navy, in which he served during WWII. Mr. Woodtke was an electrician, having served with the IBEW Electrical Local 501 retiring in 1987. He was also a 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Frank being an avid golfer celebrated his 1st hole in one at the age of 82.
Mr. Woodtke is survived by his two sons Frank T. Woodtke (Christine) of Hudson, FL., & Wayne P. Woodtke ( Margaret) of Vernon, CT. His two daughters, Wendy S. Merola (Anthony) of Carmel, NY., & Amybeth Breden (Terrance) of Springhill, FL. His loving companion Lorraine "Mimi" Troy of Stamford, CT., also survives. Frank had 11 loving grandchildren Troy, Jeremy, Marlena, Allyson, Kimberly, Caytlin, Jordyn, Matthew, Joshua, Elizabeth, and Clare. Two great-grandchildren Jack and Sam, along with several nieces and nephews survive him as well. Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen Troy and his 3 brothers and 4 sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Stamford. Friends and family may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Friday October 12th, 2012 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM.
