Clifford Evans Notice
Evans , Clifford C.
Clifford C. Evans, a long time resident of Darien, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Dr. Evans, 70, is survived by his wife of 43 years, Suellen Evans.
Born in Latrobe, PA, on February 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Donald & Thelma Evans. After graduating from Washington & Jefferson College, he received his dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He went on to serve 2 years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, and completed his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at The Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, CT.
Dr. Evans practiced in partnership with Donald J. Case, DMD for 39 years with Stamford Maxillofacial Surgery Associates, PC. He was a fellow and diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, past president of the Stamford Dental Society, past president of the Connecticut Society of Oral Surgeons, and Chairman of the anesthesia committee that oversaw in-office procedures for the department of Health for the State of Connecticut. For years, he was active at Stamford Hospital serving on the Medical Board of the Stamford Surgicenter, and past chief of the Dental Department.
He enjoyed fishing, golf, and football, and was an active member of The Woodway Country Club. One of his favorite pastimes was searching for "the secret of golf" with his friends and family.
For Dr. Evans, his family was the most important part of his life. His children were his world. He loved to cheer on their teams including soccer, tennis, baseball, and rowing. As time went on, his grandchildren kept him young as he taught them to golf and throw a football. Family vacations were always the highlight of his year when he could spend quality time with his kids, grandkids, and wife.
Besides his wife, Dr. Evans is survived by two children, Mark Evans & his wife Melissa Evans of Troy, MI, and Cindy Evans Cash & her husband Julian of New Canaan. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Adam, Tyler, Jackson & Hunter and his brother Brian Evans and his wife Karen of Coraopolis, PA.
Calling hours will be held December 18, from 4 to 8 PM at Leo P Gallagher and Son Funeral Home at 2900 Summer Street, Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 19, at 10:30 AM, St. Thomas More Church, 374, Middlesex Rd., Darien. Burial will be private.
