Muriel Guiney Tracy of New Canaan, CT and formerly of Crestwood, NY, passed away December 4, 2016. She was 93 Years old.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 plus years, Gerard B. Tracy, her grandson Gerard J. Tracy and her sister, Rosemary. She is survived by her eight children: Gerard (and Mary) Tracy of Columbus, OH, Kathy (and Peter) O'Flinn of Bonita Springs, FL, Tim (and Shaileen) Tracy of Fairfield, CT, Pat (and Jay) Melley of Guilford, CT, Maryjo (and Brian) Morris of Ridgewood, NJ, Terry (and Mary) Tracy of Harrison, NY, Kerry and (Erin) Tracy of NYC and Megan and (Michael) Grant of NYC as well as 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Muriel was born June 16, 1923 to Tim and Mae Guiney in Queens, NY.
She graduated from the College of Good Counsel (1945) and married the love of her life, Jerry Tracy, on October 25, 1947. She was affectionately called "Moo" by Jerry and her many friends and known as "Nana" by her grandchildren. Love, energy and dedication to family were her hallmarks.
She was a gifted artist and enjoyed golfing and traveling and she was a communicant of St. Aloysius Church. As the children grew up, she also found time to participate in a variety of volunteer positions.
Nothing meant more to Moo than her family. She loved a party and never missed an event, whether a birthday, graduation, First Communion or other family get-togethers. Anything important to her kids and grandchildren was important to her. She always had a wink, smile and words of encouragement for everyone.
"Mom", "Nana" and "Moo" will be greatly missed.
A wake will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at The Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan, CT.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in New Canaan, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
