The Rev.  Eugene Harold Carls Obituary

The Rev. Eugene Harold Carls, 79, of Hazleton, passed away peacefully Friday at home surrounded by his family following a two-year illness.

Gene was born in Hazleton on July 21, 1941, a son of the late Pearl Schell and Christopher Carls.

He was a graduate of the Anacostia High School in Washington, D.C., and then went on to graduate from the Logos Bible Training Center, Pottsville.

The Rev. Carls was the co-pastor and founder of Restoration Fellowship Ministries, which was established 35 years ago. He served the church until 2018.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Carls, in 1962.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the Rev. Angela Ackerman Carls and by his children, Michael Carls, Cheryl Carls Fritz, Kathy Carls Niles, Julie Carls Enck, David Carls, Dale Carls and Tommy Carls.

He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Eugene will be laid to rest following private family services in Nuremberg Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Sam Smucker, pastor of Worship Center, Lancaster.

The Rev. Eugene's family wishes to thank God for such a precious and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His loving heart took care and provided for not only his family but for his church congregation whom he loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are asked to be made to Restoration Fellowship Church, 201 W. Oak St., Shenandoah, PA 17976.
