George Pindar Obituary

George Pindar, 93, formerly of Hazleton, passed away Monday morning at his daughter's residence in White Haven.

He was born in Harwood, son of the late George Sr. and Anna (Gbur) Pindar. He was a devout member of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy at the Naval Hospital in Newport, R.I., attaining the rank of able seaman second class.

Prior to retiring he was co-proprietor of Pindar Trucking and J.B. Coal Co. After retirement he was chauffeur and funeral assistant for Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy Bohenek, in 2017; a sister, Anna Pindar; and brother, John Pindar.

He is survived by his daughter, Georgine Welshko and her husband, Joseph, White Haven; and two nieces.

The funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. from Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., 542 N. Wyoming St., Hazleton.

Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. at St. John's B.C. Church, Hazleton.

Interment will be held in the parish cemetery.

Friends and relatives may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. COVID-19 regulations will apply. Parastas will be held at 6:30 p.m.
