Monica A. Slavick Obituary

Monica Ann Slavick, 70, of Makara Drive, Drums, died Monday in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Born in Hazleton, Jan. 26, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Myron and Margaret (Hyduke) Ervin and was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Parish, West Hazleton.

Following graduation from Hazleton High School in 1967, Monica had several different jobs until she married and dedicated her time and efforts to caring for her home and raising her beautiful family.

She was a great listener who was always there when anyone just needed someone to talk to. She loved spending time outdoors and tending to her garden. She was talented at crocheting and knitting, enjoyed playing games, and most of all, she cherished the time she would spend with family, friends and especially her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her brother, Thomas M. Ervin.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Andrew "Andy" Slavick; daughters, Jennifer Slavick and her husband, Paul Lowry, Pittsburgh; Julie Morgans, her husband, Brandon, and their sons, Jaden and Cody, Harrisburg; and Krysten Bugarewicz, her husband, Michael, and their children, Zachary and Madison, Huntersville, N.C.; brother, Myron K. Ervin and his wife, Rose Ann, Drums; and an aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Friday 11 a.m. at the Butler Chapel of Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 530 West Butler Drive, Drums. Monsignor Kashenbach will preside.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation period that will be held Friday beginning at 10 a.m. at Butler Chapel and continuing until the time of service.
