Jacque was born Jan. 19, 1945, in Bloomsburg, and was the daughter of the late L. Russell McConnell and Lottie V. (Hockenbrock) McConnell. She graduated from Danville High School and moved to Conyngham in 1965 when she married John "Jay," "Luke" Wetzel, who survives her.

Jacque had worked as a receptionist at Schatz Chiropractic Clinic and as a designer at Lutz Florist. She was a past member and president of Conyngham Borough Council. She had previously been very active with the Conyngham Valley Civic Organization and their Valley Day event and had also been a member of Conyngham Valley Historical Society.

Jacque's one true love was music and she had served as the organist and music director at several area churches. She previously assisted with the music program at the former Transfiguration School, West Hazleton. She was currently serving as the music director at Conyngham United Methodist Church, where she was also a very active member. She was also very proud to serve as the director of the Freeland Community Choir.

Jacque loved children and always took time to encourage them in whatever they were doing.

In addition to her husband, Jay, Jacque is survived by sons, Corey Wetzel and his wife, Denise (Dawson); and Kirk Wetzel, his wife, Lori (Lenhardt); and grandsons, Logan and Conner Wetzel. She is also survived by a sister, Althea Wertman; and several nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service is planned in the spring of 2021. Date, time and location will be announced at a later date.
