John E. "Jack" Hartenstein Obituary

John E. "Jack" Hartenstein, 79, of Hazle Twp. passed away Thursday afternoon at St. Luke Pavilion, Hazleton.

He was born in Hazleton, son of the late Jack and Rose Somits Hartenstein, and resided in the West Hazleton and Sheppton areas for all of his life.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, with the rank of Spec 4. He proudly served his country in Germany.

John retired from Structure Reinforcement Products in Humboldt as a grinder and baker. He also was previously employed for 28 years as a crane operator at the former Barrett Haentjens & Co., Hazleton.

He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish at Transfiguration Church, West Hazleton.

Surviving are his caregivers and cousins, James F. Brandau and his wife, Sheila, Yardley; Timothy J. Brandau and his wife, Roseanne, Wilmington, Del.; and Marilou Bittorf, Hazleton.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Hilary J. Bonin Funeral Home, 99 W. Green St., West Hazleton, is assisting the family.
