James L. DeMichele, 87, of Hazleton passed away Thursday evening. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Sophia (Belletiere) DeMichele. He was a member of Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton, served in the U.S. Navy and was an avid Yankees fan. Jim was known for his sense of humor and loved spending time with his family. Prior to retiring he worked as the head of maintenance for the Hazleton Area School District. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his first wife, Irene Pendal DeMichele; a brother, Edward; sisters, Marie DeMichele and JoAnn Corrigan; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Corrigan. Surviving are his children, James DeMichele and wife, Rosemarie, Hazleton; and Kathy Hartz and husband, James, Freeland. His wife, Tomasina DeMichele, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Private services will be held and are under the direction of Fierro Funeral Service Inc., Hazleton.
