Ruth A. Hinkle, 80, of Packer Twp., a lifelong resident of Weatherly, passed away Monday afternoon as a guest of St. Luke's Manor, Hazleton. Born in Hazleton on March 22, 1940, she was the daughter of the late William and Lydia (Henry) Hinkle. Ruth was also predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Zullo; brothers, Donald, Harold, William, Herman, Robert, Paul and James Hinkle. A 1958 graduate of Weatherly High School, Ruth was employed for 25 years at the former Acme Markets and was owner of the Personal Touch Gift Shop in the Weatherly Plaza until her retirement. Ruth enjoyed traveling the United States and overseas. Her hobbies were knitting, doing handcrafts, playing scrabble and canasta. Ruth loved cooking her favorite recipes as she entertained family and friends at her home. She will be remembered for her fun loving and quick sense of humor. Surviving are her best friend of 53 years, Joyce Weaver, Weatherly; brother, Henry Hinkle and his wife, Shirley, Weatherly; sisters-in-law, Ilene Hinkle, Weatherly; Annette Hinkle, Florida; caregiver, Linda Binder; and many nieces and nephews. A member of Cornerstone Bible Church, Nescopeck, Ruth was an Evangelical Christian, having received Christ as her personal savior at an early age, and is now in Heaven with her Lord. Private funeral arrangements are entrusted to Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 211 First St., Weatherly. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Weatherly.
