Lorraine S. Klinger Obituary

Lorraine S. Klinger, 86, a lifelong resident of Drums, entered into eternal rest late Sunday evening at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community, Drums.

Born in Hazleton on Feb. 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Stackhouse and Thelma (Bommer) Stackhouse and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Johns.

She was a graduate of Hazleton High School, Class of 1951, and graduated from Hazleton School of Nursing on Aug. 25, 1954. She was employed several decades at Berwick Hospital and upon retirement held the title of director of nursing.

Lorraine enjoyed boating and traveling in her motor home with her loving husband, Don. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening, animals, quilting and tending to her pond were some of her greatest passions. She was an active member of her church, serving on council, Lutheran Church Women, Church Women United, Knot-a-Quilt for Lutheran World Relief, choir, sausage suppers and shoofly pie making. She belonged to the Red Hat Society, Cranberry Quilters and S&B's quilting group.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Donald C. Klinger; and sister, Sandra Petrone.

Surviving are her sons, Gary D. Klinger and his wife, Leanne, Goose Creek, S.C., his sons, Gary M. Klinger, Allentown, Steven Klinger, Hazleton, and stepdaughter, Lauren, South Carolina; Lorraine's son, Barry Klinger and his wife, Kathy, Drums, and their sons, Jonathan, Weston, Ryan, Riverview, Fla., and daughter, Brittany, Hazleton; Lorraine's son, Donald C. Klinger Jr. and his wife, Donna, Drums, and their daughter, Doreen Yori, Drums; and nephews and a niece, Drums. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren.

We would like to acknowledge the kind hearts of all the staff at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community and Maylath Valley Health System.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Johns. The Rev. Michele Kaufman will preside.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation period which will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church and continue until the start of the service. In following with COVID-19 guidelines, anyone attending in person must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Anyone wanting to attend virtually, please reach out to the family in order to attend via Zoom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Johns.
