Margaret May "Nana" Kistler Obituary

Life is precious. Mothers are a gift. Grandmothers are a blessing. Great-grandmothers are a gift from God. Margaret "Nana" May Kistler, a woman who lived a life full of love, family and faith, passed away Monday at the age of 85.

Margaret was born in Weatherly and was the daughter of the late Robert and Eva Craiglow DeFrain. She was the sister of the late Gladys Hinkle, Beatrice James and Ruth DeFrain.

In her life, Margaret was the valedictorian of her graduating class from Weatherly High School. After meeting her late husband, the Rev. Robert Kistler, Margaret lived the life of a pastor's wife throughout the state before ultimately settling in Hazleton. She worked as a nurse's aide at Lutheran Welfare Services and was a devoted member of Christ Lutheran Church, Hazleton.

Margaret was a great wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, baking and caring for her family. Prior to her passing, Margaret resided at the Mountain City Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hazle Twp.

Surviving are her son, John C. Kistler and his wife, Anne Marie, Hazleton; daughter, Mary Kistler, Hazleton; grandchildren, Jeremy Kistler and his fiancée, Bryanna Ator; Megan Rose Dever and her husband, Ryan; great-grandchild, Lacey Anne Dever; brother-in-law, the Rev. Richard Hinkle; and niece, Margaret Elvin.

Her obituary was written by her loving grandson, Jeremy, who hopes that he made her proud and will miss her very much. "Rest in Peace Nana, until we meet again."
