Thomas B. Yancus Obituary

Thomas B. Yancus, 94, of Drums, passed away early Saturday morning at St. Luke Pavilion, Hazleton.

Born in Jeddo, he was the son of the late Stephen and Agnes Cheseck Yancus.

Thomas served in the U.S. Navy as a carpenters mate third class and was awarded a Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, and a Victory Medal.

Prior to retirement, he was employed as a warehouse worker by General Foam Corp., Hazleton. He also was a TV repairman and serviced the local communities for 50 years.

Thomas was a former member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Freeland, and a current member of Immaculate Conception Parish at St. Ann's Church, Freeland, the Jeddo Stars, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5010. He loved dancing and was an avid New York Yankees fan.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, Esther, in 2009; and a brother, John Yancus.

Surviving are daughters, Nancy Sisock, Freeland; Susan O'Donnell, Freeland; and Carol Doria, Manchester; and a sister, Catherine Hrino and husband, Benny, Middletown. Also surviving are grandchildren, John T. O'Donnell and wife, Lisa; Jason Sisock and wife, Lora; Tim Sisock and girlfriend, Koryn; Corey Sisock and wife, Kelsey; Allison Schleig and husband, Dan; Stephen Doria and fiancée, Lindsey; Rachael Harper; great-grandchildren, Luke O'Donnell, Grace O'Donnell, Grant Sisock, Lilyana Sisock, Keller Schleig, Nora Schleig; and many nieces and nephews.

Privately, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery, Freeland.
