Rose Sallemi, formerly of Hazleton, died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose (Melora) Perna.
Rose was a member of Holy Rosary Church and, prior to her retirement, was a teacher for the Luzerne County Head Start Program.
Being the last surviving member of her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her brothers, Angelo, Joseph, Anthony and Louis Perna; and sisters, Louise Marino and Mary Sciachitino.
Surviving are her husband, Ralph Sr.; sons, Ralph Jr. and his wife, Judy; Bennett and his wife, Tammy, both of Hazleton; daughter, Sally Ann Zaloga and her husband, Anthony, Drums; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Rosary Church, Hazleton, at the convenience of the family.
Interment will take place in St. Gabriel Cemetery.
Donations to the Luzerne County Head Start program in Rose's name would be appreciated by the family.
