KNECHT, VIRGINIA L. "GINNY"
Age 74 of Horseheads, NY went to Heaven on Easter Sunday April 20, 2014 to join her husband Stanley. Ginny was born December 3, 1939 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Samuel and Katherine Jessup Josbeno. Ginny married her husband Stanley D. Knecht on May 19, 1962 and he pre-deceased her on July 15, 2003. She was a graduate of Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing in Sayre, PA. Ginny retired as Director of Emergency Services at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, NY as well as being an active instructor in many EMS Training Programs in the area. She was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads for many years. Ginny loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Knecht is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law Stanley D. & Lisa Knecht Jr. of Geneva, NY; loving daughter and son-in-law: Theresa & Paul McKlevis of Horseheads, NY; beloved grandchildren: Christina Knecht and Jessica McKlevis both of Horseheads, NY and Brian (Jennalynn) Knecht of Geneva, NY; sisters: Theresa Josbeno and Bernadette Josbeno-Oakes both of Elmira, NY; brother and sister-in-law: Larry & Ceil Josbeno of Horseheads, NY; sisters-in-law: Jane Harshbarger and Georgia Porcelli both of Estero,Florida and Betty Lantz of Owego, NY; brother-in-law: Lloyd Splain of Chemung, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many many wonderful friends. The family is also grateful for the love and support she received from her long-time friend Libby Cantando. She was also pre-deceased by her 2 sisters: Sharon and Mary Claire Josbeno, as well as brothers-in-law: Dick Harshbarger, Tom Porcelli, Paul Lantz and sister-in-law: Alice Splain. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Wednesday April 23, 2014 from 4-8PM. Ginny's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Rick Farrell on Thursday April 24 at 11:30AM at St. Peter and Paul's Church St. Joseph's Blvd. Elmira, NY. The family will provide their own flowers and those wishing may remember Mrs. Knecht through memorials to Robert Packer School of Nursing 1 Guthrie Square Attention Janeen Sheehe Sayre, PA 18840 or Notre Dame High School 1600 Maple Ave. Elmira, NY 14904.

Ginny was one of the sweetest people I have ever met, and one of the toughest. She always had a smile and a hug, but when the ER was going crazy she kept everything under control, even managing the doctors. She was a great teacher to me and so many others.
