Beaver Dams: Joyce E. Thompson, age 87, of Beaver Dams, NY passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday December 6, 2014. Friends are invited to calling hours from 5 - 8 pm Monday (Dec. 8) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee. Her funeral service will be held at 11 am Tuesday (Dec. 9) at Faith Baptist Church 13 Harpending Ave. Dundee, with Pastor Lawrence Semans officiating. Burial will follow in Tyrone Union Cemetery, Tyrone, NY. Joyce was born August 17, 1927 in Clifton Springs, NY, the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Estella M. Lee Madigan. On Dec. 8, 1945 in the Wayne Baptist Church she married the late Dean L. Thompson who has been waiting for her to join him with the Lord since June 17, 2011. A life long area resident, who wintered in Florida for many years; Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Faith Baptist Church, in Dundee. She enjoyed embroidery, was the best cook and baker, loved camping, square dancing, and even clogging when she was visiting Florida. But most of all she loved her family and all times spent with her children and many grandchildren. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her 4 sons Dean Lewis (Catherine) Thompson of Reading Center, Bruce E. (Phyllis) Thompson of Tyrone, Brian D. (LouAnn Miller) Thompson of Millport, Byron D. (Marjorie) Thompson of Watkins Glen; 3 daughters Sharon E. Thompson of Montour Falls, Sharee E. Pulos who resided and cared for our mom in her Beaver Dams home; Starlene J. (Timothy) Ector of Watkins Glen; 24 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a brother Steven Madigan of Addison, NY; a sister Mary (Bill) Allen of Penn Yan; a special sister in law Leona Thompson of Altay; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was pre-deceased by a grandson Richard Lee Thompson; and 5 brothers.
