Age 60 of Elmira NY passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2018 in Florida. Tom was born in Elmira, NY on Oct. 21, 1957 to Francis "Paul" and Dorothy "Dottie" (Crawford) Stermer. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary "Shelly" Stermer; Daughters and sons, Theresa Stermer of Elmira, NY, Jessica Stermer of Athens, GA; Mary (Jarad Simpson) Stermer of Orlando, FL, Zack Stermer of Elmira, NY, Brandan Stermer of Orlando, FL; Many granddogs; Sisters, Deborah (Dave) Blauvelt of Erin, NY, Karen (John) Seewald of Horseheads, NY, Paul (Virginia) Stermer of Uniondale PA; Many nieces and nephews and special friends, including Ethel (Ray) Frost of Montour Falls. Tom was a CNC programmer at Hardinge Inc. where he worked for 42 years. He was an avid bowler, motorcyclist and also loved boating and sailing his Hobie Cat. He was an at home mechanic and enjoyed camping with his family. Friends may call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads NY on Wed. June 27, 2018 from 2-4:00 pm and again from 6-8:00 pm. His service will take place there at the funeral home on Thurs June 28, 2018 at 10:00 am with burial service to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. TO TOMS FAMILY IM REALLY SORRY ABOUT TOMS PASSING. HE WAS A GREAT AND VERY SMART GUY, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER ALL THE GOOD TIMES AND MEMORIES TO GET THROUGH THIS SAD TIME. I JUST TALKED TO HIM 3 WEEKS AGO WHEN I WAS RETIRING. I AND A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL MISS HIM. WITH LOVE GARY AND DIANE COMSTOCK .

Sorry to hear the passing of co-worker Tom. We worked together and he was a very good bowler. I thought he was one of the smartest guys at Hardinge. Tom had a very nice smile and was easy to talk to. He will be missed. May The Lord God see you and the family through this most diffulcult time.
