David Moran Obituary
Age 57, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at home after a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 9, 1954 in Elmira, NY to the late George and Patricia (Hughes) Moran. David is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cindy (Compton) Moran of Elmira; son, Matthew (Melissa Chalk) Moran of Elmira; daughter, Tara Moran of Elmira; brothers, Robert (Mariann) Moran of Elmira, George (Rhoda) Moran of Pittsfield, MA and John Moran of Elmira; sisters, Mary Manoogian of Elmira and Susan (Chris) Bright of FL; along with several nieces and nephews. David was a member of St. Mary's Church and was a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, December 8th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A Prayer Service will take place there on Friday, December 9th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church with Father John DeSocio as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Southern Tier Food Bank. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the family, friends and the Falck Cancer Center for the wonderful care and support that they and David received through his courageous battle.
