Gertrud Brice Obituary
Gertrud Brice

Horseheads - Gertrud Brice of Horseheads, New York went to be with her Lord as the sun rose on July 9th, 2018. After a long battle with Moyamoya Disease, Gerta or "Oma", passed away peacefully at Robert Packer Hospital surrounded by her loving family that she proudly referred to as her "tribe".

She is predeceased by her sister Gugi Herz and her parents Anita & Ernst Herz.

Gerta is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, James C. Brice (Jim) of Horseheads, NY; 2 daughters, Jamy Ann Brice-Hyde of Horseheads, NY and Tina Michelle Kane of Elmira, NY; son-in-laws William Hyde and Jerome Kane; 3 grandchildren, Angelina Kane, Mychal J Kane and Annabelle Hyde ; brother-in-law Louis Brice and his wife Cathy of Beaver, PA along with a multitude of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Born on June 2nd, 1940 in Germany, Gerta overcame a multitude of obstacles before immigrating to the U.S. at the age of twenty to achieve her sole dream of raising a healthy and happy family in America. Gertrud's dream was fulfilled beyond her wildest expectations as she has touched the hearts of many with her unbounded kindness, compassion, humor and love. Beloved by all who knew her, Oma lived a vivacious life centered around spending time with what she held most dear: her family. Beautiful on the inside and out, Oma will leave a lasting legacy paved by strength, imagination, empathy, grace and love; she will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

A celebration of Gertrud's life will be held on Saturday July 14th from 11a.m. to 2p.m. at 901 West Second Street Elmira, NY.
