Age 89 of Old Ithaca Rd., Horseheads, passed away after an extended illness on Tues., April 8, 2008, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Ivan was born in Stamford, NY, the son of the late Luman and Rita (Osterhoudt) Lawrence. He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Dorothy (Wheelock) Lawrence; son, Peter Lawrence of Burdett, NY; sister-in-law, Marie Lawrence of Stamford, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Vincent Lawrence in 2007. He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Danford (Elizabeth) Wheelock and Allen Wheelock. Ivan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Horseheads. A graduate of the Syracuse University Hospital School of Radiology, Ivan was a sales person for Picker X-Ray based in Cleveland, OH for over 30 years. An avid clock and watch enthusiast, Ivan collected and repaired time pieces for many years. He was also a member of National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Services with the Barber Funeral Home in Horseheads will take place privately at the convenience of his family with his interment also taking place privately in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira. I was very sorry to learn of Ivan's passing. Vern Spencer and I spent my miles on the road chasing clocks. He taught us both a lot. God bless.
