CIPRICH, Olive U.
Age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2008, in her sleep. She was born on January 18, 1919 in Quicks Bend, PA, the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Franklin. She graduated from Wayalusing High School in 1936 and soon there after married the love of her life, John Ciprich. Olive leaves behind her sons, Richard (Margaret) Ciprich of Parachute, CO, Charles (Faith) Ciprich of Burdett, NY; daughter, Rita Watts of Huston, TX; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, especially granddaughter, Maria Eaton that took so much care of her with such devotion and love until the very end. Mr. and Mrs. Ciprich moved to Burdett in 1945 where John worked on the railroad and later became Mayor of Burdett and Olive did much for the Community. She was a past member of the Burdett Fireman's Auxiliary and a member of the Ladies Wednesday Afternoon Club. Olive was also the President of the Burdett PTA and played in Burdett Players plays. Mrs. Ciprich worked at Westinghouse before she and John bought and started Cip's Coffee Shop in Burdett, where she loved being with people and baked such delicious pies she was known far and wide for. After her husband died, she sold the coffee shop to go to work for Borg Warner where she worked for several years until an accident on snowy roads made her unable to work at the job. She then took care of any one, needing help and was always there when someone needed her. She loved to nurse someone back to health with her loving and caring ways. Mrs. Ciprich loved to play games like Scrabble, Yatasee, card games, that she would usually win at. She loved new experiences and especially loved Sunday rides with her dearest friends, Evelyn Welch (deceased), June Pike and Beverly Krellner. Olive made jewelry late in her life that was so beautiful that today people still wear her jewelry. She was known as the Jewelry Lady. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY, on Saturday, April 26, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Her funeral Mass will be held following visitations at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Watkins Glen, NY, at 2:30 p.m. Interment to follow in Union Cemetery of Hector, Burdett, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Burdett Fire Department, 3830 Main Street, Burdett, NY 14818.
