He had a very successful 36-year career with Corning Inc. retiring as Vice Chairman in 1993. One of his many roles at Corning was the development of fiber optics into a business which is now one of Corning's most successful businesses. He served on the boards of several companies including Dow Corning, Grumman, Raychem, Welch Allyn and Ambac.
