CROSBY, Harry C. Jr.
Age 84, of Crosby Rd. in Cayuta, passed away at home Mon., Nov. 30, 2009. He was born Mar. 11, 1925 in Norwich, CT, the son to the late Harry and Rose (Glasbrenner) Crosby Sr. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Joy Douglass Crosby; daughter, Mary Susan (Robert Greene) Crosby of Kemerer, WY; son, John (Thumy) Crosby of Walworth, NY; grandchildren, John Paul, Joseph, Maria, James and Grace Crosby. Harry had a career as a freelance writer publishing over 100 short stories and novels under the pen name Christopher Anvil. His writings consisting mainly of Science and Fiction including "Pandoras Planet" and "The Problem Solver and the Spy". He left Williams College to enlist in the US Army and upon his discharge completed his education at Juanita College. He enjoyed quiet conversations, reading, time spent at home with his family and quiet walks in the woods. Harry was also a past member of the Cayuta Town Council, a proud supporter of the Sheriff's Association and Republican Party. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, from 7-9:00 p.m. His service will take place in St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 408 S. Main St., Horseheads on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jeffery Hoffman officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Comstock Cemetery, Montville, CT where military honors will be accorded.
