Sulo K. Kleimo

CONNEAUT — Sulo K. Kleimo, age 86, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Monday morning, May 4, 2009, at UH-Conneaut Medical Center.He was born June 13, 1922, in Finland, and was the son of Charles E. and Lempi (Lehtonen) Kleimo.Mr. Kleimo came to the United States with his family as a very young child. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Europe. He was employed at the Pittsburgh and Conneaut Dock Company and at Foseco in Conneaut until his retirement in 1987.He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, reading, bowling and was a star horseshoe pitcher. He was proud of his Finnish heritage and could speak, read and write Finnish fluently. Survivors include his wife, Leah E. (Jarvi) Kleimo; three daughters, Susan Esposito of Ashtabula, Ohio, Joan Richards and Karen Simons, both of Conneaut; four grandchildren, Christine Pipers and Eric (Kim) Richards of Conneaut, Ohio, Mark Esposito and Scott Esposito of Seven Hills, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 8th, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, with the Rev. Franklin J. Gore, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.Calling Hours will be Today, May 7th, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Lung Association.
