Beloved husband, loving father; had beautiful singing voice
Pellegrino Bucci, 95, of West Orange, N.J., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on March 17, 2020.
A private Mass was held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Orange, N.J., followed by an entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A memorial visitation and Mass will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial in Caldwell, N.J.
Born Nov. 12, 1924, in Lucera, Italy, Pellegrino immigrated to the U.S. in 1961, residing in Orange and later West Orange.
He served in World War II as a bombardier in the Italian Air Force. He was held as a prisoner of war in Germany for the final years of the war.
He worked as a mechanic for many years before retiring. He loved to sing and had a beautiful tenor voice. He was often invited to sing at weddings and other gatherings.
He also enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, and was well-loved for his lighthearted personality.
Pellegrino was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Orange.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carmela Bucci (nee Bartolino). He was the loving father of Josephine Guerriero (husband, Carmine Guerriero), Vincent Bucci, Anne Marie Guarino (husband, Gary Guarino), Patricia Dellorto (husband, Vincent Dellorto), Maria Bucci (husband, Daniel Spanton), and cherished grandfather of Carla Guerriero, Lawrence Guerriero, Erik Bucci, Vanessa Bucci, Gary Guarino, Chris Guarino, Ricky Guarino, Mark Guarino, Jessica Dellorto, Vincent Dellorto, Lily Spanton and Jack Spanton.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to , 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or at stjude.org would be appreciated.
