Theofanis Z. "Ted" Peepas Obituary
Theofanis 'Ted' Z. Peepas
Devoted family man and dedicated church member who lived his life with integrity, love, pride and laughter
Theofanis "Ted" Z. Peepas, 91, of Roseland, N.J., died on March 20, 2020.
Born and raised in Worcester, Mass., Ted settled in Roseland in 1970. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner and operator of Lornic Safety Equipment in Verona, N.J. Ted was a devoted spouse, father and grandfather, and a dedicated longtime member of Sts. Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Church, where he served in many roles, including the Parish Council, the annual festival committee, a leader of his son's Boy Scout Troop, and a member of AHEPA.
Ted was devoted to his wife, Helene, as she was to him. He was a sociable person and enjoyed people's company, whether you were a family member, a neighbor, a friend from church, or one of his physicians. A natural conversationalist, Ted always had a story or a joke to make people laugh and feel comfortable. He lived his life with integrity, love, pride, laughter, and devotion, and he will be sorely missed by many. He had strong convictions and believed in the importance of an education and hard work. He was immensely proud of all of his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments, committed to attending sports and school events, cheering loudly from the stands or the audience, beaming with pride and a big smile on his face. Ted and Helene took up many sports over the years, including bowling, tennis, and skiing, and the family has fond memories of driving many hours in the station wagon for vacations at Bolton Valley in northern Vermont or to areas of the Northeast to learn more about U.S. history.
Ted is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Helene Peepas (nee Valassopoulos); his devoted children, Lorie Coulombe and her husband, David, Nicholas Peepas and his wife, Nicole, and Cynthia Thurston and her husband, Scott; cherished grandchildren, Peter, Alexandra, Nicolas, and Nicia and granddog, Lucy. He was predeceased by his parents, Zoerittos and Panayiota Peepas, and his siblings, James and Spiroula.
Limited viewing will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, followed by a private funeral service for the immediate family at 12 noon at Sts. Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Roseland, N.J. Entombment to follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, N.J. Funeral services are entrusted to Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, Roseland, N.J., shookfarmer.com.
A memorial service and celebration of Ted's life for family and friends will be held at a later date. The family asks that you consider your health and safety at this time, and to please join them for the later celebration.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Sts. Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Mortgage Elimination Fund, 80 Laurel Ave., Roseland, N.J. 07068.
