Betty Quinn, 87, formerly of Nacogdoches, died January 2021 in Allen, Texas with family by her side. Betty Joy Reid was born March 1933 in Oakland, California and moved to Nacogdoches with her husband John Quinn and family in 1963.
Betty Quinn taught high school English and Spanish in San Jose, California, and continued her teaching career in Nacogdoches as a certified substitute in NISD. Later, she used her skills to teach English classes to new immigrants in Nacogdoches and surrounding counties.
Preceded in death by her husband, John Quinn, Betty is survived by her children Ellen Germain and husband Dan, Alice Schwarz and husband Roger, and John “JP” Quinn and wife Lynn, as well as grandchildren Kurt Kolb, Megan White and husband Taylor, Hannah Waggett and husband Tim, Marian Schwarz, Grace Schwarz, and Kristina Quinn, as well as two great-grandchildren, James and Eli Waggett.
Betty donated her body to the UT Southwestern Willed Body program for medical research and a private family memorial was held in her honor.
