Hey Ed,
Just to let your family know that you are STILL touching people down here on Earth. I watched your "I know" video a couple days ago. It was touching and lovely and well written. Today at work (I am a PICU nurse in Oakland, Ca) the Holy Spirit put it on me to share the song with my patients momma. She immediately thought of her daddy who is battling addictions! Her plate is full with a completely neurologically devastated child but the song was meant for her father. God is good all the time.
Your dad is still touching peoples hearts with his songs.
Be blessed,
Ken, RN

My heart is and always will be full of joy as I listen to the rich baritone voice of that genius songwriter and performer. He is forever immortalize through the cds, videos and tv performances he did throughout his life. Not just saying this because he's my kinfolk, as are all the Bruces everywhere.... He was the best of the best. Nobody will ever meet his standard of excellence in the music industry. Heartfelt amazing performances that came to us through his writing!!!! As he said in his song, 'The Songwriter' from the album 'I'll Write It Down',,, the songs and the music were a mirror into his soul... See you in heaven old friend or if not there, see you in Texas.

My heart broke the minute I heard of Ed Bruce's passing! I've listened to country music my entire life, and I grew up in the 1980s when he was topping the charts on country radio and trying to keep Bret Maverick (James Garner) out of trouble on NBC! He was am amazing songwriter, had a voice like no other, and was quite an actor, too! I had the pleasure of meeting him briefly after a concert and its a meeting I will never, ever forget. Sending my deepest sympathy to his wife, family and friends. May the memories you share and the happiness he brought to so many people around the world help you through this difficult time. God bless you all! RIP Ed!

While ghostwriting a book not long ago, collaborating with its subject, an incident from years before came up involving an interchange with Ed Bruce.
My collaborator was reluctant to agree to the fact-checking, which would mean a call to Ed was in order. It seemed that, with the passage of time and a suspicion that Ed might not receptive to such a call, the prospect of a such a conversation would produce an awkward moment.
I argued that necessity and accuracy demanded the call be made. It was, Ed could not have been more gracious and my collaborator could not have been more relieved.
Having encountered Ed briefly several times over the years, and admired his versatility and artistry, this last observation is not a bad sayonara.

What a voice. He used to come to a very popular local honky-tonk often, back in the mid-late 1980s. He'd sing from the DJ booth and wave at the dancers on the back dance floor, and then sign autographs. Another great talent in God's band upstairs. Condolence to the family and friends, hope you will keep his memory alive and maybe some will follow in his legendary footsteps musically.
