Edward Vincent McKernan III, age 74, of Butler, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 while under the care of Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born September 11, 1946 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Edward Vincent McKernan, Jr., and Margaret McGovern McKernan.

Ed proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1970. He was a union man and worked for Insulators Local NO. 2. Ed loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle and enjoyed travelling on his Hog. He will be dearly missed by his family, as well as many friends and motorcycle enthusiasts.

Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Margaret McKernan Lacombe (William); his grandchildren, William, Edward and Luna Lacombe; his siblings, Kevin P. McKernan (Candace), Susan M. Lipecky, Dennis J. McKernan, Michael F. McKernan (Linda), Nora A. “Missy” Sutermaster (Carl), and Elizabeth Bertsch (Pat “Skip”); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara McKernan; his brothers, Thomas R. and Kenneth J. McKernan; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Lipecky.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private memorial service, followed by military honors, will be held by the family. Ed will be laid to rest at Allegheny County Memorial Park.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, Inc., 116 E. Main Street, Evans City, PA 16033. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.

I met Ed while working at Missing Links last year, he was always super nice and I enjoyed talking to him during my shift about his family and all trips he had taken or was going to take in the future. Very sad to see he had passed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I met Ed threw his brother Kenny. Ed was a very nice guy, & always funny. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed dearly. Condolences, Thoughts and prayers to the family.
