ANNA (ZUBAL) HAMLETT Anna (Zubal) Hamlett (90), born on January 24, 1928 in Lodi, New Jersey, to the late Mary and John Zubal, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on July 24, 2018. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Zubal. Anna graduated from Bay Shore High, Long Island, NY in 1945 and worked as a banker for Manufacturers Hanover & Trust, retiring in 1983. Anna was the beloved wife of the late John Hamlett with whom she was happily married for 57 years. Upon retiring they were drawn to the beautiful beaches of Wilmington and the proximity of her children. Anna will be missed by all who knew and loved her including her sons, Ronald Hamlett (Carolyn) of Apex, Bruce Hamlett of Wilmington and Mark Hamlett (Karen) of Alpharetta, GA., and her daughter, Linda (Hamlett) Wendehorst (John) of Raleigh and sister, Mary Holmes (97). She loved and spoiled 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Lauren, Ashley, Brittany, Allison, Ryan, Nicholaus, Courtney, Kaitlyn, and Brianna; and 5 great-grandchildren. She had a close relationship with her many nephews and nieces. Anna leaves behind her faithful furry companion, Teddy. Her hobbies included reading, knitting, crafting and baking. She was an active member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Anna loved life and was always willing to help others with a smile. The family wishes to extend their most sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care 8013 Majors Rd. Cummings, Ga.30041 and 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and request that in lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Anna be directed to these deserving organizations. Friends and family members are invited to attend the funeral service, officiated by Fr. John McGee, OSFS, on Saturday, August 18, 9:00am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Rd., Wilmington, North Carolina, 28412. The graveside service will be private.
