LOWRIMORE

Dorothy Toon Lowrimore, 85, formerly of Wilmington and Burgaw, North Carolina, passed away on July 22, 2012, where she lived with her daughter, Lynn and husband, John Paul Keon in Raleigh, North Carolina, after a lengthy illness.

Born as Ann Dorothy Toon on April 12, 1927, to the late William P. and Annie J. Toon, she grew up in Willard and Wilmington, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Lowrimore, Jr., a sister, Emily Toon Horn, a brother, Glenn Johnston Toon, and a grandson, John Paul "Jamie" Keon, all of Wilmington.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn Lowrimore Keon and husband, John Paul Keon, of Raleigh, with whom she resided, and Charlene Lowrimore Parker and husband, Gene Kelly Parker, of Scotts Hill. She was also survived by grandson, Christopher S. Keon and wife, Shelby R. Keon, along with her two great-grandchildren, Camryn Natalie Ann Keon and Tyler John Douglas Keon of Four Oaks, North Carolina. She also leaves special family friends Jack Cooke, and Beth and Danny Weaver of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington.

Dorothy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She touched so many lives with her love for life, passion, creativity, and her warm heart. She was an inspiration to many. Dorothy had a passion for gardening and had a love for flowers, even showing their garden during the Cape Fear Garden Tour of the Azalea Festival for several years.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington, North Carolina, with burial immediately following at Oakdale Cemetery. Chaplain Eric Raddatz, Spiritual Counselor with Heartland Hospice of Raleigh, will officiate the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3200 Atlantic Avenue, Suite 100, Raleigh North Carolina 27604.
