Jacqueline Claud Obituary

JACQUELINE M. CLAUD On January 23, 2015, after a long and courageous battle, Jackie passed away peacefully and no longer in pain. Jackie vowed to live a well-lived life- one of strong faith, compassion, forgiveness, and integrity. Jackie was born on August 15, 1949. She was preceded in death by both parents and two brothers. She is survived by a son, daughter-in-law, three sisters, two brothers-in-law, a brother, sister-in-law, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends. Jackie joined the military as a young adult where she learned such attributes as high standards, organization, and hard work which became deeply ingrained. She lived for many years in Miami, Florida, and worked there in the private sector where she was very successful. After her industry downsized, she decided to change careers. She went back to school, earned a teaching degree, and moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, to pursue a teaching career. In Wilmington "Ms. Claud" taught at Lakeside, New Hanover High School, and intermittently at Cape Fear Community College in computer technology. She also helped developed technology curriculum at the state level and was active in NCAE. Many students will attest that Ms. Claud was a tough taskmaster who encouraged her students to work hard, study hard, and work hard and thus, become successful. This was proven each year by her students' rate on the state exams. Jackie loved life. She graduated from the "Live Strong" program at the YMCA where she made many new friends. She thoroughly enjoyed the classes and working out at the YMCA. Jackie also was an excellent cook and loved to experiment with new recipes and ingredients. In addition Jackie was a lover of reading, new technology, and "beautiful" things. But most of all, Jackie had a strong faith in God. Sundays were reserved for Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she sat with her friend Pat each Sunday. She also enrolled in numerous Bible study classes. Jackie lived her faith each and every day-not just on Sundays. Through her faith Jackie was able to maintain a positive attitude while fighting cancer. Jackie was truly a wonderful person. She leaves behind many people who will miss her. Her special friend Ann whom Jackie often spent holidays as well as retail therapy at Macy's; her special sister Thelma who always came when needed, and the Windemere Tea Party gang. I will miss my best friend. I love you.
