DR. JAMES MATTHEW WEAVER, DVM Dr. James Matthew Weaver, 34, of Pender County beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and loyal friend left this earth way too soon, leaving a big hole in our hearts. James was born in Columbus County on March 13, 1986 and passed from us on Monday, July 13, 2020. James is survived by his parents R. W. Weaver III and Julia C. Weaver; brother, Worth Weaver (Mercedes Ani); grandmothers, Brenda Weaver and Anne Cartrette; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Vernon C. Cartrette and R. W. Weaver, Jr. Dr. Weaver received his undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry from UNC-Wilmington in 2013 and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State University in 2018. Before attending UNC-W, James being musically gifted toured internationally playing the trumpet and bass guitar. James was a kind and caring young man with a quick wit that often made him the life of the party. He enjoyed cooking, loved his cat Joey, and was all in all one of the good guys. From an early age, James showed a keen interest in animals, many of which often found their way into the Weaver home. In an uplifting manner, James reached out to others and made quite a difference in so many of their lives. James was greatly loved by his family and his presence among us will be truly be missed. James was a wonderful human being. I remember finding out we both shared the same birthday and we laughed over it and thought it was so funny. I didnt know him as well as I wouldve liked to, but seeing all of the different posts from others Ive realized we were very similar. I know his life has touched mine, and I know he will be dearly missed by so many. I am so sorry for this loss of such an amazing person.

We shared a special friendship, we were roommates, went to college together and became close friends. When I met James, he took me under his wing and treated me as a sister. He became the brother I never had but always wanted. James had this infectious way of making me laugh so hard until it hurt and I have never met someone who could do so quite as well as he did. We spent late nights playing video games, studying, and shared a love of music. He was hard on me, but in a loving manner. He never did sugar coat a thing, infact James was brutally honest to a fault. I admired that about him! I don't know if he ever knew this, but I gave my son the middle name of James after my dear sweet friend. James, Peaches, you are missed terribly by many, and there is no one that could ever replace you! I am sending your family lots of love, light, and healing. Prayers to you all.

Rest In Peace James Weaver, or as many of his friends called him, Peaches. I had the pleasure of playing in multiple bands with James. I really dont know what to say. From the bottom of my heart, you will be sorely missed. You were always so kind, funny, & upbeat. Really wish I had another moment to tell you how impactful I found our friendship. Rest easy, my friend. I cherish the times weve had. This photo was taken on top of the roof of Brogyntyn in Shropshire, England; June 2011.

Peaches was one of the most down to earth, kind and gentle souls Ive ever had the pleasure of spending time with. I hope his family knows how much of a profound impact he had on the lives of those he interacted with. My fondest memory of Peaches is walking around London in 2011. He had the wonder and excitement of a child and it was infectious. He will be missed. RIP.

James made a point to see each person as an individual and to get to know them. He made everyone feel special. I'll never forget our conversations at night in the ICU and how he always made me smile. I'll miss you, James.
