John Byron Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 29, 2010 to Jan. 2, 2011.
Byron, John Patrick age 80, of Bloomington, left us to join his bride on December 28, 2010, their 53rd wedding anniversary. His sparkling wife Mary preceded him in death in 2008. John was born March 4, 1930 in Waseca, MN to John F. Byron and Margaret Sinnott Byron. The family moved to North Minneapolis in 1933 where John attended St. Anne's grade school. He graduated from De La Salle High School in 1946, attended the College of St. Thomas, and received his law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1953. After serving in the Navy aboard the USS Princeton during the Korean War, he joined the Minneapolis law firm of Wheeler and Fredrikson, now Fredrikson and Byron, where he practiced until his retirement in 1996. John treasured his family, his Catholic faith, and his many lifelong friends. John was also preceded in death by his brother, David. He is survived by his six children, (Fr.) J. Michael Byron of St. Paul, Molly (Jeff) Hill of Minnetonka, Jim of Scottsdale, Arizona, Martha of Bloomington, Joseph (Debra) of Hermosa Beach, CA, and Anne (Ryan) Anderson of Eagan; grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, and Chris Hill, Michael and J.T. Byron, and Victoria Anderson. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary (Leo) Kennedy, Thomas (Kay) Byron, and Kay (Jerry) Heron; and numerous relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Monday, January 3rd (visitation beginning at 9:30 AM) at Our Lady of Grace Church, 5051 Eden Ave. S., Edina. Memorials preferred to Risen Christ School, 1120 East 37th Street, Mpls, MN 55407, or N.C. Little Hospice, 7019 Lynmar Lane, Edina, MN 55435. Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel 952-920-3996

For John's family:
Through the wonderful legacy perpetuated by John at F & B, my company has remained with this law firm for over 50 years. I can't help but think that John's presence there significantly influenced future quality 'hires' who now also emulate John's precepts. His wisdom and sage counsel were givens, but surely his engaging style must indeed been a reflection of his contentment with life and his deep love for his family. I was pleased to know John.

My condolences to the Byron Family on John's death. His vision and instincts were prophetic as he guided my medical group out of a tangled structure into a professional corporation. The concept proposed was novel and untested, but his vision and rational proved valid. I am continually grateful for his wisdom and personal warmth in this and subsequent encounters in the Edina community.
Sincerely, E. Duane Engstrom, M.D.

Mike, Molly, Jimmy, Martha, Joey and Annie: Dad and your Dad were chums; and my Mom and your Mom were even better chums. Between Mom, Dad and Hanky (not to mention a number of other deceased friends) there is some seriously fun Irish fiddlin' goin' on up there with your Dad's arrival. Life after death is what our FAITH is all about…take the positives and continue forward one step at a time confident that smiles and love really are what they want for us. Peace.

Byron Family,
Your Dad was a very special man and will be remembered in our prayers. When I started with the firm in 1988, I remember seeing him on the floors in the International Centre and thought wow..he is such a nice man, he always made you feel special by striking up a conversation, using your name. The firms success is contributed to many people, but certainly your Dad! It was a pleasure to know him and he will be missed by many.
