I got the privilege of knowing you and on top of all that, Teresa and I worked in the same room and she too is so kind, caring, generous and supportive and I know she loved you so much. The time flies by so quickly and even though the heart aches for you, you are always on someone´s mind everyday. RIP dear friend.

On January 2, 2011 we let off balloons in your honor! You are missed by so many! I hate that you were taken away so soon.
I seen the kids at our nieces birthday party and man, Jr., is such a splitting image of you it is crazy! I look at him and see you as I do in all the kids.

Before you died you said that you would tape all my basketball games.Soon after you died I had my second basketball game and you weren't there to tape it, I was very sad all day because you weren't there to tape it or see it.Basketball has started and I am doing very good now but I wish you were to see.

I wish you where here to watch me play basketball on my first practice of 2010. I did a turning and shooting move. I think I pivited then shot and I made it. Almost every single practice we do a drill that you pass and shoot they said that I was like a basketball player on the timberwolves. I want to watch you play basketball again. It has almost been a year already since you were taken from us. They say in time it will get easier, I pray it will. I just miss you, everything about you even the things that drove me crazy I miss. I would do anything for one more moment with you. I feel blessed to have been able to spend 13 years with such a generous loving person. I dream of you often I can hear your voice and your laugh. You always told me, "someday you will miss me", You were right. I never imagined how much.
I know you are with Alyssa now and knowing that makes me feel better.You always loved her and kept me sane through her short little life.
Your children are just as beautiful and smart as the day you left. Keep watching over us, we still need you. Amaya often talks about you as if she is seeing and talking to you, stay close.
This wasn't how I saw our life. I was looking forward to the next 50 years, but that wasn't God's plan. You were too good for this world. Thank you for the wonderful times and your greatest gifts these 3 children who keep me going everyday. Thank you for loving me you helped to make me more accepting and understanding of others.

For so many years after high school, Dontae was the one person that I would run into time and time again. And if you knew Dontae, you'd know that every single time, he'd be wearing that legendary smile.

It's still such a tragic shock...a positive and contagious soul, taken way too soon. Although I haven't seen Dontae much since our days at Edison, I am saddened beyond belief. He was an amazing person with that smile that could light up the darkest of rooms. I can't imagine the pain and heartache his passing is causing his family and those closest to him.

Dontae, Cathy, Big Wayne, Lil Wayne, Teresa and Tenika these are real great,loving,helpful,caring and fine people. They didn't have all the money in the world or the best things in life, but they loved each other and other people. I met these folks about 6 years ago and Dontae was a show stopper he always had a smile on his face and he respected people especially women and children. Dontae was just a homeboy from the twin Cities whom loved his wife and kids and would sometimes touch bases with his buddies and long time friends and family at our long time favorite bar Stand-Up Franks. The entire family would give the shoes off their feet for anyone.

My family and I will miss Dontae. He was my cousin however, our experiences are more like brothers. Our birthdays were 25 day apart. We went to school together from elementary to college. We joined our first basketball team together. My cousin always had positive/encouraging words for me and was always willing to be of assistance. Dontae was a great teammate and friend. I spent many summers traveling to other states & playing AAU basketball with him. He was a great competitor in hoops and life, and could always make you laugh! I lost touch with Dontae as we grew up, and I was extremely sad to hear this news from a common friend. The Johnson family is in my prayer's. Take care old buddy!

Dontae Johnson was a "Man's Man". He was a good person and his honesty and personality shows by the amount of mourning friends and family members that he leaves behind. He was also a great athlete. Dontae is the best athlete to ever graduate from Minneapolis Edison High School, and was ahead of his time with his basketball ability and skills. Lastly, Dontae was a father. You could tell by the amount of people that were at the wake last night that Dontae was a well loved individual. His presence will be truly missed by so many. His smile was so bright and contagious that it couldn't help but make the people around him smile as well. I hope that the fond memories of him will make everyone smile that same big smile every time that they think about him. I havent seen dontae in a while,but the love of a friend never dies. I met him 12 years ago at college and teresa shortly there after. He was a great basketball player, friend , and man. We had many barbeque's, card games,and nights out. He now will unite with his daughter alyssa in the Lord's house. Tae you will be missed!!! Prayers and love to teresa, the kids, and Dontae's family and friends.

My heart aches for the wife and children that Dontae left way too soon. I pray that God gives his family and friends strength during this time. Dontae's smile and loving personality touched the lives of all who knew him. Rest in Peace Dontae.

Cuzin!!!! My heart is filled with grief!!! Teresa, no words can express...we pray for the Lord's strength, comfort, healing, and His understanding for you, the kids, the entire family at this time. To know that you are now resting peacefully in Heaven with our Father, replaces our anger, hurt, sorrow, and sadness. Dontae we love you and you are truly missed, may God replace this void we have lost.

Tae will be missed. We haven't seen each other as much as we used to like in the North Commons or Boy's and Girl's club days but everytime we did run into each other we would greet each other like we seen each other everyday. The Johnson family is in my prayers.

I hate that this had to happen to him. Dantae was a good preson and would do any thing for anybody. I am deeply sorry for the familys lost. I will keep your family in my prayer. I must say this was a big shock to us all and he will be deeply missed.

Although I haven't seen Dontae in several years, hearing about the loss of such a wonderful man has hurt so much. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Dontae had the most infectious smile - it and he will never be forgotten.

I was shocked saddened and my heart broke when I heard that Dontae's life
had been taken away from all of us.
Myself and Coach Corky Wiseman built a B'ball team around our center Dontae.
You could not ask for a better player and team/youth leader on & off the court. Dontae's 'smile' will always be a bright light in our hearts and a reminder at North Commons gym & Metro
B'ball League of true sportsmanship and friendship.
So many-many good & fun memories
of Dontae.
