Dear Peter,

As now you are in the heaven with the Lord, you will be greatly missed by Anny and me who got to know you and Emily more than a quarter century ago in Minnesota.

Back in the mid 1980s, your family and ours attended the same Chinese church. Both your and Emily's cheerful mood always impressed us.

Later for a while, “uncle Bob (Mr. Sen Wu Wei) would come to your house with his kids for the weekends. Because of your busy schedule at Hunan on Friday nights, uncle Bob would then come to our house to have some relaxed time. In turn, we sometimes spent time at your house on Sunday afternoons – so with 5 adults and 4 kids plus baby Joshua, one can imagine the nonstop laughter. Not only for good times, we also shared our frustrations in life. However, your simple faith in the Lord always gave me a fresh motivation to be closer to the God.

Good time ended soon as we were moving long distance to California in 1987. Time really flies from there on. I did not go back to Minnesota until 18 years later in 2005 when I was on a business trip. Taking advantage of that opportunity, I was able to meet both your family and Larry's. Having the dinner with you all was the most enjoyable trip highlight.

Then in 2008, we had an unplanned get-together in Taipei. Because Anny's mom got ill and Anny could not get her passport soon enough, so I traveled by myself to Taipei to visit for a few days. One day in the subway of the local rapid transit near Taida Hospital, I heard someone calling my name. I turned around and saw Emily and you. Wow, I could not believe such a coincidence is possible. Unfortunately only by then I got to know your health condition – Parkinson and then Leukemia. Oh, how could this be? I asked myself. I still remember that Emily used to say how her mom emphasized on the importance of health for her future husband. And indeed you were strong and seemed never needed any health care. On that Sunday after church, we three had a lunch together. Even with health problem, you were good enough to have some good time. As we went on separate ways, I felt very sad. That's the last time that we met.

Peter, I know you're in the heaven with Jesus. I know that you have strong faith which is a good example to encourage many others. Wish you and surely you will rest in peace.

Sincerely,

Shiao Hua
