Stephen Wellstone Obituary

Wellstone, Stephen age 76, of Minneapolis, passed away on January 9, 2013. Preceded in death by parents, Leon and Minnie; brother, Paul; sister-in-law, Sheila; and niece Marcia Markuson. Survived by nephews, David (Leah) and Mark (Jill) and many close friends. Stephen, an avid gardener and dog lover, taught elementary school for 24 years in Arlington, VA, before moving to Minneapolis where he worked for the Hennepin County Medical Center for 14 years. After retiring, Stephen volunteered at Ramsey Elementary School in Minneapolis. A memorial service will be held at 7 PM Wednesday, January 16 at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina (952) 924-4100. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the donor's favorite charity.

Regarding Stephen Wellstone, I never knew Paul but from the outside looking in, in the 10 years I worked with Steve, I saw a lot of Paul in Steve. Two great men. Thats all I can say.

Steve was a wonderful neighbor and very talented gardener, who kindly shared his knowledge and his flowers with us. He would often leave the most beautiful bouquets of cut flowers from his garden at our back door; always such a pleasant surprise.

He is missed.
