Theresa Lund Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 25 to Mar. 26, 2010.
Lund, Theresa M. Died at home in Jupiter, FL on March 17, 2010 at the age of 69, after a 7 year struggle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). During that time she was an inspiration to all who knew her or came in contact with her. Theresa, known to her children, grandchildren and friends as Tzippi, lived a full and fascinating life. She was married for nearly 50 years to Peter A. Lund, the former CEO of CBS. After meeting in the 5th grade and growing up together in Minneapolis, MN, the two of them, along with their sons, Mark and Tim, began an odyssey that included 13 moves and some wonderful adventures. Tzippi was eclectic in her interests and pursuits. As they moved about the country she was, at various times, a yoga instructor, travel agent, banker, hotel sales agent, photographer and small business entrepreneur. She was an avid hiker and with her good pals she trekked in Nepal, hiked portions of the Appalachian Trail, the mountains of Vermont and Colorado and at one point walked across England. In between trips she was a skier, golfer, tennis player, bridge player and still found time to read 2 or 3 books every week. But, clearly her greatest accomplishment was the way she handled the last 7 years of her life. From the time she was diagnosed with PSP until she died, she never complained. Even during the past several years, when she couldn't talk or move anything except the fingers of her left hand, she would signal yes when asked if she was happy. A truly remarkable woman who was a gift to the wonderful group of friends who were part of her life until the every end. Theresa is survived by her husband, Peter; her two sons, Mark of NBC in New York and Tim of Arnold Advertising in Boston; and her 7 grandchildren, Connor, Kelly, Jack, Maxwell, Olivia, Nathan and Charlotte; and her two sisters, Kathy and Patti. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10 AM, Monday, March 29, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Memorial contributions may be made in Theresa's name to, CurePSP, Foundation for PSP/CBD and related brain diseases, Executive Plaza III, 11350 McCormick Road, Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD 21031. Dear Peter-

I too am sorry for you loss. To me Teresa was the epitome of what a lady should be.........fun, loving and always giving. Not to mention smiling! I have remembered her throughout the years and think of her ever so often of the times we laughed and worked hard to make the Sheraton Plaza Chicago the best ever! I was the young intern whom together we shared an office on the thirteenth floor and many times would walk home with her along the beaches of Michigan Avenue . All the warmth and continued faith to you and your lovely family.

Dear Peter:
I remember her vividly as the sweet faced lady who quietly calmed me as I prepared to enter the KSDO studio, on a day long ago.
Being on the air was a new experience for me. I never forgot her gentle kindness and reassuring smile.

You have been blessed having her in your life.

I am so sorry, Peter.
