Provost, Robert Peter of Golden Valley. October 23, 1924 to September 16, 2011. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary (Maple); parents, Peter and Anna Provost; brother, Walter; and brothers-in-law, Earl Carignan and Bill Maple. Bob is survived by siblings, Patricia Carignan, Elizabeth (Robert) O'Keefe, Gertrude, Kenneth (Patricia); brother-in-law, Tom (Barbara) Maple; children, Margaret, Peter (Karen) and Paul (Donna); and adoring grandchildren, Ryan (fiancée Jenna), Bethany, Hannah, Robert, Samuel and Benjamin. Born in Keewatin, MN and raised in Mason, WI. Bob graduated from Drummond High School in 1942. He enlisted in the US Navy and became a decorated naval aviator during WW II. He served in the US Naval reserve until 1969, retiring as Lt. Cmdr. Bob was a 1949 graduate of the University of Minnesota; he lettered in boxing and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He worked for the U of M Athletic Department and later became the President of The Minnesota Insurance Information Center. He was a Rotarian and affiliated with the Golden Valley Historical Society. He enjoyed cooking, Gopher athletics, pheasant hunting and his neighbors. The family wishes to thank Bob's PCA Sabas Tabucol, JR., the staff at St. Therese of New Hope, the aides with Home Instead, and his doctors and nurses at Abbot Northwestern Hospital. Bob lived a wonderful life. A time to celebrate Bob Provost is planned for Friday evening, October 14 from 6:30 to 8:00, Campus Club, 403 Coffman Memorial Union, 300 Washington Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN 55455. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Bob was the best. He was a gentelmen, always engaged with family, friends and business associates and knowledgeable in so many areas. He left a legacy in the insurance industry as well. He will be sorely missed and not replaceable.
