To the family of Tanner: You don't know me, but I lost my only son Seth, age 19 in a car crash almost 5 years ago. He was the love of my life. Only a parent can really know the horrible loss of such a young child. They had their whole life ahead of them, now it's gone. I hope you somehow managed to at least find a little joy in Thanksgiving this year. You were in my thoughts and prayers everyday during the holiday. Even in our worst storms in life, God always provides a glimpse of hope and joy ~ sometimes it takes a long time for us to recognize it. Don't ever forget God is ALWAYS there for you ~ especially during troubled times.
Please know that as I enjoyed Matt & Lance being home, my heart was breaking for you guys. I gave them extra hugs in memory of Tanner. None of us are exempt from this type of devastation, so nothing in life should be taken for granted.

I can't stop thinking about you guys ~ especially yesterday. I wasn't able to make it to Tanner's life celebration ~ I'm sure it was a beautiful service representing Tanner's amazing life! We didn't know Tanner, but wish we could've ~ he sounds like an amazing young man!
My heart is absolutely breaking for your loss. Losing a child is not what us parents are supposed to have to deal with! I wish I could take away the pain you're feeling, but the best thing I can do is pray for you and that I will continue to do for a long time! God is the ultimate healer, and he hears all our prayers that are being said for you! He has you wrapped up in his loving arms and eventually provide the healing and peace that you need to continue this journey of life without Tanner in your physical presence. He will always be with you in spirit and memories!!

Tanner had a big impact on my life after my dad died he always had a big smile on his face and made me feel apart of the team and always was there when i was kinda sad he always told these funny jokes and made me laugh!! I still remember being right next to him while he was puking before the hockey games he was an amazing friend and a great goalie! I can't express how sorry I am for your loss. Tanner and I became friends freshman year of college in Madison when we were paired up to be lab partners in chemistry class. I transferred to the U the next year but we still kept in touch, I was very happy to get a text from him early last year telling me he was transferring to the U this fall. We reconnected this fall and met up several times on campus and were planning on playing in a boot hockey league together this winter. I'm so thankful to have known him, he was an incredible guy with an infectious laugh and sense of humor. I'll miss him forever and think about him every day.

However brief, he touched my life in those moments. I have never met someone more genuinely interested in me, my day, my life...he was generous with his time and had a servant's heart. It's been quite awhile since we've seen you guys, but think of you often as we pass by your old house here on Yalta. Words seem so trivial at times like these & the heartache is so piercing and real.
Please know that our hearts are breaking because your wonderful Tanner has been physically taken from you so unexpectedly and at such a young age.
We didn't know Tanner personally, but just by looking at his picture we can tell he was definitely one of God's special angels here on earth. He definitely had a genuine and infectious smile. I am absolutely heart-broken over your loss. I so wish I was still living next door to you so I could cry with you and embrace you. It's impossible for me to believe he is gone…to me he will always be the little boy who kept throwing groceries out of the back of your van when he was mad at Val. And the determined little boy who ran after Buster over and over again, trying to tackle him and landing in poop, but not caring. And the boy who would leave his friends to come and chat with me when I came home.
He was such a delightful child to me and obviously had wonderful parents who raised him that way. He will always be that boy to me, and always loved.

Pap family,
I met Tanner during freshman year of college when we were forced to be chem lab partners together. I'm so glad this happened because I made a great friend out of it.
